PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Pirates men’s basketball team continues to build a strong recruiting class, signing Derrick Doe, a 6’1″ scoring guard from Tampa, Florida. Doe played for the Sports Leadership and Management (SLAM) Academy, where he averaged 17 points per game as a senior and led his team to an 18-11 record and back-to-back trips to the Class 2A Final Four. He was also named to High School Sports Illustrated’s Top 20 Seniors list for the Tampa area.
SLAM’s website praised Doe as a balanced playmaker with one of the best assist-to-turnover ratios in the region. He’s described as a three-level scorer who can impact the game on and off the ball, with the speed and athleticism to disrupt passing lanes on defense.
