BY OLY ARCHIBALD

PORT ANGELES — In a “You thought you had seen it all” game, the Port Angeles Roughrider baseball team had to grind through nine innings to pull out a hard-fought 7-6 win over an emotional Kingston squad.

The Roughriders trailed 6-3 in the fourth inning during an arctic windstorm that sent some fans home early. Junior Cody Williams, who threw a seven-inning no-hitter in Tuesday’s 6-0 win over Kingston, scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. He also had three singles, a walk, and scored twice.

Center fielder Jordan Shumway contributed both at the plate and in the field, finishing with a single, a walk, and two runs. Rylan Politika doubled and scored, Trae Hanan walked twice and scored, and Nathan Basden delivered two clutch singles. Catcher Luke Flodstrom stood out with another strong defensive performance.

Hunter Stratford and Alex Angevine provided solid middle and late relief, keeping Kingston off the scoreboard.

The victory clinched third place in the Olympic League for Port Angeles, which will host a district playoff game Monday at 4 p.m.

Sequim Finishes Fourth

Sequim beat Bremerton 6-4 to secure fourth place with a 7-7 league record. The Wolves are guaranteed a district playoff appearance Monday, though likely on the road.
