Arrest made in hit-and-run of Sequim boy

BY PEPPER FISHER

Sequim – An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run incident of a 13-year-old Sequim boy.

Earlier this week, Sequim Police Officers traveled to Muskogee, Oklahoma, as part of their ongoing investigation into the March 31 incident. Investigators said Thursday that after an extensive search, Sequim Police tracked the suspect believed to be responsible to a home in Muskogee. On Wednesday, May 21, with the collaboration of the Muskogee Police Department and the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, Sequim Officers arrested 22-year-old Cole Douglas on a charge of hit and run with injury, a class C felony.

Douglas was booked into the Muskogee County Jail, and was arraigned in Muskogee on Thursday, May 22, where he waived his extradition back to Washington State. Douglas will be transported by Sequim Police Officers back to Clallam County where he will be booked for vehicular assault and hit and run with injury.

The vehicle suspected to be involved in the incident was also located in Muskogee, seized, and processed for evidence.

Police say the family of the victim, Colton Dufour, has been informed of the arrest.

On April 11, the Sequim Police Department announced they had potentially identified the person responsible for the hit-and-run that left Dufour in serious condition. Investigators said at the time that following an intensive investigation involving thorough interviews and the review of numerous hours of security footage, an arrest warrant had been issued, but they declined to name the suspect to avoid tipping him off.
