New concessioner taking over in Olympic National Park

Port Angeles – After more than a decade, Aramark will no longer be operating concessions in Olympic National Park.

Explor Olympic has been selected to provide lodging, food and beverage, and other visitor services at Lake Crescent Lodge, Log Cabin Resort, Fairholme Store, and Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. The new concession contract will be effective on February 1, 2026, and conclude 12 years later on January 31, 2038.

Explor Olympic is a subsidiary of Ortega National Parks, a company with a long history of operating in national parks. The reference to Hurricane Ridge caught our ear. Since the Day Lodge was destroyed in a fire on May 7, 2023, there have been no such services up on the ridge, so we reached out to Olympic National Park’s Molly Pittman to see if she could tell us what the plan may be for next year.

Pittman told us, “The concessions contract authorizes the selected concessioner to provide services including food and beverage, retail and rental equipment from a service-approved temporary space at Hurricane Ridge. It is a bit too early to say what may be available in February of 2026, but we may have more information in the coming months!”
