Local butcher recalls smoked salmon sold in store

PORT ANGELES — Sunrise Meats in Port Angeles recalled some of its smoked salmon because it could possibly be contaminated with listeria.

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) announced on June 7, and 2 days later on Facebook, the recall of the smoked wild white king salmon sold at Sunrise Meats, and store employees confirmed that the product has been pulled from shelves.

As of that notice, Sunrise Meats had not received reports of illness associated with the recall.

Sunrise Meats Smoked Wild White King Salmon bearing the Sell by / Use by Date of 7/21/2025 has been recalled. The product is sold in packages, and all of the recalled products were sold from the Sunrise Meats location Port Angeles.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the WSDA discovered that the product was contaminated with Listeria. The notice says Sunrise Meats and WSDA are continuing their investigation into the source of the problem.

Consumers who have purchased Sunrise Meats Smoked Wild White King Salmon with Sell by / Use by Date 7/21/2025 are urged not to eat the product and return it to the store for a full refund.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.
