PORT ORCHARD — Two Sequim residents were killed Friday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on State Route 16 near Port Orchard.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened around 4:43 p.m. on June 13. A 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on SR 16, just west of the Tremont Street exit, when the driver lost control. The motorcycle came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway.
The driver, 65-year-old David R. Smith, and his passenger, 68-year-old Vickie L. Carr, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing U.S. DOT-compliant helmets.
No other vehicles were involved. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
