PEPPER FISHER

Port Angeles – A suspect was placed into custody Monday morning thanks to the Port Angeles Police Departments K-9 team of Officer Whitney Fairbanks and Copper.

Here’s Deputy Police Chief Jason Viada with details.

This morning at about 10:30am a Port Angeles resident reported that his home had been burglarized. Officers developed probable cause to arrest a suspect who was also wanted on an unrelated arrest warrant. At about 1140 AM Officers observed the suspect walking in the vicinity of 9th and Cherry and attempted to arrest him, which resulted in a foot pursuit. A PAPD K9 Team arrived on scene and the suspect was quickly apprehended from his hiding place in a yard.”

31-year-old Gregory Stanfield is being held on charges of residential burglary, resisting arrest, and a felony bench warrant.

“This incident just really emphasizes how efficient our K-9 teams can be when deployed, and how grateful we and the community are to have them on our side.”
