Parades, Music, and Fireworks Highlight 4th of July Celebrations Across the Peninsula

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Peninsula will be packed with parades, music, and fireworks as Port Angeles and Sequim celebrate the 4th of July.

In Port Angeles, festivities kick off downtown with a pickleball tournament at the Wharf from 9 to 11 a.m. and hot air balloon rides at Pebble Beach Park. Cornhole tournament registration runs from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Ice Rink Parking Lot, with games starting at 11.

Apple pie contest entries are due at City Pier by noon, with judging from noon to 1 p.m. The City Pier Beer Garden opens at 1, followed by Uncle Sam’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at 2. Hot air balloon rides return from 2 to 5 p.m.

The City Pier Kids Zone runs from noon to 5 p.m. with laser tag, obstacle courses, face painting, and more. Additional laser tag will be at the Gateway Transit Center.

The Lawnmower Derby starts at 3 p.m., followed by live music from the U.S. Army General 7 Band at Field Arts & Events Hall and Buck Ellard at City Pier.

The Port Angeles parade rolls at 6 p.m., with Barracuda performing at City Pier from 8 to 10 p.m. Port Angeles is not having a fireworks display this year.

In Sequim, Carrie Blake Park hosts a full afternoon of live music and fireworks. Admission is free. Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy food and drinks for purchase.

The lineup at the James Center for the Performing Arts includes:

  • 3 p.m.: Sequim City Band’s patriotic concert
  • 4 p.m.: 133rd Army National Guard Band
  • 5:30 p.m.: Casey Freedom with Americana and folk rock
  • 8 p.m.: Great American Trainwreck blending bluegrass, rock, and country

The night wraps up with fireworks by Western Display at 10 p.m.

In Forks, The Old Fashioned Fourth of July celebration begin early with the Elks Annual Breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Forks Elks Lodge. The Garrison Flag will be raised at Tillicum Park at 8 a.m., followed by parade check-ins, including the Kiddies Parade at Peninsula College.

The Kiddies Parade starts at 11:45 a.m., leading into the Grand Parade at noon from Forks Outfitters.

A salmon bake runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at Tillicum Park, followed by the Demolition Derby at 3 p.m. Gates open at 1.

The celebration wraps up with fireworks at dusk at Tillicum Park.
