Clallam PUD offering free emergency battery packs to some customers west of Lake Crescent

Carlsborg – Clallam PUD has just announced a new program that could be a lifesaver for customers who depend on medical equipment while experiencing a power outage.

The PUD received a grant from the American Public Power Association for the purchase of 50 portable batteries with solar panel. These power packs, which operate much like a silent generator, are intended to be distributed to PUD customers living west of Lake Crescent who may be dependent upon one or more devices for a medical need that could be life-threatening in the event of a longer-term power outage.

The West End is particularly vulnerable to longer outages due to a lack of transmission redundancy in the event of a BPA outage.

Restrictions apply. Applicants must also be a qualified and verified participant in the PUD’s Low-Income Energy Assistance program. To apply for the monthly PUD Low-Income Energy Assistance discount, click here.

Click here to submit your application for the free battery pack. Applications will be accepted until the grant funds run out.

Once approved, customers will be contacted to arrange a time to pick up their device at either the Forks or Sekiu office.
