LOCAL SPORTS: Lincoln Park Riders Prepping for World Championship

PORT ANGELES – A group of standout BMX racers from Lincoln Park BMX is preparing to represent Team USA later this month at the UCI BMX World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Racing under the Team USA banner, five riders from the Olympic Peninsula and Kingston will compete against more than 3,000 athletes from around the globe during the three-day championship event, scheduled for July 28-30.

Among the athletes is Wyatt Christensen, who enters the tournament as the defending World No. 1 in the 13 Boys division. He’ll be joined by his younger brother, Warren Christensen, who will race in the 9 Boys category.  Also competing are Kylin Wietz of Port Angeles in both the 12 Girls and 12 Girls Cruiser divisions;
Teyah Elofson-Cross, also of Port Angeles, in the 13 Girls and 13-16 Girls Cruiser classes; and Elinor  Christensen of Kingston in the 11 Girls division.
The riders plan to leave 7 to 10 days ahead of the event to train with Team USA and acclimate to international competition conditions.
