PA’s Wasnock takes second place in 2025 World Series of Poker

LAS VEGAS — Port Angeles native John Wasnock is heading home a millionaire after finishing second in the 2025 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.

Wasnock, who now lives in North Bend, battled his way through a field of 9,735 to reach the final table, eventually squaring off against four-time WSOP bracelet winner Michael Mizrachi in heads-up play. Mizrachi ultimately took the title and the $10 million grand prize. Wasnock earned $6 million for his second-place finish — one of the largest payouts ever for a player from the Olympic Peninsula.

Braxton Dunaway placed third and won $4 million, while Kenny Hallaert took fourth and pocketed $3 million.
