PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has announced Spenser McGinty as its new Executive Director.
McGinty joins the organization from the Utah Humane Society, where she spent ten years working in shelter operations and animal care. She brings experience managing a high-volume shelter and overseeing community-focused animal welfare programs.
The change in leadership follows ten months of interim direction by the current Board President Paul Stehr-Green, who now returns to his role leading the Board of Directors.
He stepped in when the previous executive director Jason Stipp resigned in July last year, five months after being hired. It came in the wake of financial issues and the threat of closure of the OPHS dog shelter.
In a letter to the community this week, Stehr-Green said the organization will continue its focus on sheltering homeless animals and expanding education around animal care, behavior, and shelter operations.
