Sequim park gets two new foot bridges

SEQUIM — Two new pedestrian bridges have been installed at Carrie Blake Park as part of a project to improve trail access and pedestrian safety near the Albert Haller Playfields and Water Reuse Demonstration Site.

Work wrapped up recently following the delivery and installation of prefabricated steel bridges manufactured by Bridge Brothers. One bridge replaces the aging Olympic Discovery Trail span, while the second has been placed approximately 60 to 100 feet upstream of the shorter pedestrian bridge located southeast of the bandshell.

While installation was underway, access to Swisher Hall, the James Center for the Performing Arts, and portions of the park’s parking areas were temporarily closed, with flaggers and signage helping reroute visitors.

City Engineer Nick Dostie said the new bridges are designed to accommodate increased foot traffic and improve long-term reliability for trail users.

The park has now reopened to the public.
