Here is the revised story incorporating the Fire District 3 lid lift measure:
Primary Election Ballots Due Tuesday in Clallam County
PORT ANGELES — Clallam County voters have until Tuesday to return their ballots in the 2025 primary election, which features several competitive local races and one ballot measure.
Among the issues on the ballot is a proposed property tax levy lid lift from Clallam County Fire District 3. The district is asking voters to approve a $0.39 increase to restore its regular property tax levy to the previously approved rate of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. If approved, the measure would help maintain current operations and essential emergency services within the district.
In city races, the Port Angeles City Council Position 1 race features three candidates: incumbent LaTrisha Suggs, Gilbert Hall, and James Taylor. Voters will narrow the field to two for the November general election.
City Council Position 4 has also drawn a three-way contest. Council member Kate Dexter is seeking re-election and faces challenges from Ralph Davisson and Marolee “Mimi” Smith Dvorak.
The Olympic Medical Center board race for Commissioner Position 7 is the only hospital district contest on the primary ballot. Four candidates initially filed, but Corlene Eberle has since withdrawn. The remaining three — Mic Sager, Laurie Force, and Penney Sanders — will appear on Tuesday’s ballot.
In the Port Angeles School District, Director Position 1 also drew four candidates: Sarah Methner, Ruth Replogle, Kim Butler, and Ned Hammar. Although Hammar has withdrawn, his name will still appear on the ballot.
All other local races — including those for Port of Port Angeles commissioner and various city and school board positions — will go directly to the November ballot.
Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. Tuesday at an official drop box or postmarked by August 5 to be counted.
