NEAH BAY — Cape Flattery has been ranked the most relaxing natural destination in Washington state, according to a recent survey focused on nature-based stress relief.
The survey asked 3,017 Washington residents to name the places they turn to when seeking solitude, calm, and time away from the pace of everyday life. Cape Flattery, located near Neah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula, earned the top spot, followed by the Umtanum Recreation Site in the Yakima River Canyon.
Cape Flattery is the northwesternmost point in the continental United States and features short forested trails leading to viewpoints above sea caves and ocean cliffs. The area is managed by the Makah Tribe and is a popular destination for visitors and residents alike.
The survey was conducted by A Mission for Michael, a mental health organization that explored how natural environments contribute to relaxation and mental wellness.
Other top locations named across the country included Kokeʻe State Park in Hawaii, Sykes Hot Springs in California, and Drift Creek Falls in Oregon.
