PORT ANGELES — Clallam County voters have made their initial picks in several key local races following the August 2025 primary election, with top vote-getters advancing to the November general election.
In the Hospital District 2, Commissioner Position No. 7 race, Penney Sanders led with 55.2% of the vote (5,023 votes), followed by Laurie Force with 32.1% (2,917 votes). Mic Sager trailed with 11.5% (1,050 votes), while write-in candidates received just over 1% of the vote. Sanders and Force are expected to move on to the general election.
For Port Angeles City Council Position No. 1, incumbent LaTrisha Suggs secured 50.3% of the vote (961 votes). James Taylor followed with 31.8% (607 votes), and Gilbert Hall received 17.5% (335 votes). Write-in votes totaled 7. Suggs and Taylor advance to November.
In the City Council Position No. 4 race, current council member Kate Dexter earned 59.5% (1,135 votes). Marolee “Mimi” Smith Dvorak received 27.7% (528 votes), and Ralph Davisson finished with 12.2% (232 votes). Dexter and Dvorak will appear on the general election ballot.
In the race for Port Angeles School District Director Position No. 1, Sarah Methner led the field with 44.7% (1,440 votes). Ned Hammar, who withdrew from the race prior to the election, still received enough votes to place second with 32.3% (1,043 votes). Kim Butler (12.2%) and Ruth Replogle (10.2%) trailed behind.
In Fire District 3, voters approved a property tax levy lid lift by a wide margin. The “Yes” vote garnered 63.9% (4,377 votes), while “No” votes totaled 36.1% (2,475 votes). The levy is intended to maintain and fund the district’s operations.
Election results remain unofficial until certified by the Clallam County Auditor’s Office. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4.
