Port Angeles – Olympic Medical Center has a new Interim CEO following last week’s resignation of Darryl Wolfe.
At Friday’s meeting, the Board of Commissioners passed a motion to move forward with Mark Gregson as the interim Chief Executive Officer. The interim CEO will provide guidance, oversee OMC’s daily operations, and advance the organization’s strategic initiatives.
For the past 20 years, Gregson has been the President of HBL Healthcare in the Phoenix area, which provides “Interim hospital CEO and consulting services”.
“The Board was looking for an interim leader with a strong understanding of rural healthcare, experience in financial turnaround and quality improvement, and a proven track record of providing foundational strategic direction,” stated Ann Henninger, Chair of the OMC Board of Commissioners. “Mark matched all of those criteria and more—and we look forward to what he will bring to our team members, patients, and community,”
The process for the interim CEO was conducted under the guidance of WittKiefer, a nationally renowned executive search firm, which identified highly experienced candidates who possessed a comprehensive understanding of the distinctive opportunities and challenges inherent in rural healthcare.
Hospital officials said in a statement that with the new interim leader in place, the Board will begin the process to recruit a new, permanent CEO, and will encourage both internal and external candidates to apply. They said the interim CEO is a temporary position, and Gregson will not be considered for the permanent CEO role.
Additional details regarding the interim CEO and the leadership transition will be communicated in the coming days.
The statement said Darryl Wolfe will continue in his role as CEO of OMC until an official transition to the interim CEO takes place.
