Fire Crews Douse Two-Vehicle Blaze on Lost Mountain

SEQUIM – Fire crews quickly knocked down a pair of early morning vehicle fires Sunday near Sequim.

Fire District 3 says the call came in just after 5:25 a.m. for a burning vehicle on Horizon Hills Road, off Lost Mountain Road. While crews from the Carlsborg station were on the way, dispatchers reported the fire had spread to a second vehicle carrying an RV camper. A column of smoke was visible from town near the River Road roundabout.

Engine 33 arrived first and began attacking the flames, blocking traffic on Lost Mountain Road. A battalion chief and a second engine from the Sequim station joined in, bringing extra water. Firefighters say one vehicle contained combustible metal, making the fire harder to put out. About 1,500 gallons of water were used before the flames were fully extinguished.

The vehicle owners were found uphill from the scene in a safe area. No one was hurt.
