PORT ANGELES – The Clallam County Fair opens Thursday for its 105th year, offering four days of rides, animals, food, music, and community traditions at the Port Angeles fairgrounds.
Gates open at 8:30 a.m. daily, closing at 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. Thursday is Kids Day, with free admission for ages 12 and under. The first 500 children will receive a free fair T-shirt and a goodie bag tied to this year’s “Believe in the Magic of the Fair” bee-themed celebration. Many kids’ activities will be free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The schedule features a full lineup of entertainment on two stages, a rodeo at 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday, and a pro logging show at 11 a.m. Saturday. Sunday’s highlight is the demolition derby at 4 p.m., with tickets sold that morning starting at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln Park BMX Track.
The Rainier Amusements carnival runs noon to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and until 7 p.m. Sunday.
Fair officials report 4-H and FFA participation is at its highest since 2015, with some categories turning away entries for lack of space. Upgrades this year include a renovated Dog Barn with a new roof, better ventilation, and safer kennels, funded by a USDA grant.
The beer garden, introduced for the rodeo in recent years, will also be open during Sunday’s demolition derby.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65-79 and students 13-17, $7 for children 6-12 and active military, and free for children 5 and under. Parking is free.
