PORT ANGELES – Drivers using US 101 through Port Angeles should plan for night lane closures later this month as construction crews set girders for new bridges at Lees and Ennis creeks.
From 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, through Thursday, Aug. 21, one lane in each direction will be closed between South Brook Avenue and North Baker Street until 7 a.m. each following morning.
From 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 28, the lane closures will shift between North Baker Street and Del Guzzi Drive, again lasting until 7 a.m. each following morning.
The work is part of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s fish barrier removal project. Contractor crews will set girders, which will serve as the backbone for the first half of the new bridges. Once in place, crews will build out the rest of the structures.
The first halves of both bridges are expected to be complete this fall, at which time traffic will be shifted onto them while work begins on the second halves.
WSDOT says closures could be delayed or rescheduled due to weather.
