PORT ANGELES — Three finalists will go before the Port Angeles City Council this Tuesday as the city prepares to fill a vacancy on the council.
The opening in Position No. 7 was created by the June 30 resignation of Councilmember Brendan Meyer. The appointed candidate will take office immediately following the council’s decision and will serve until the results of the November 2027 general election are certified.
The finalists are Jon Hamilton, Christy Holy, and Laurel Cripe.
Hamilton is a mathematics teacher at Port Angeles High School and serves as vice president of the Port Angeles Education Association. He has also been treasurer of the Clallam County Democrats and a delegate to state and national education associations.
Holy owns “Better Call Christy,” a service for seniors in Port Angeles. She serves on the Clallam County Charter Review Commission and has held positions with the 24th Legislative District Democrats and Soroptimist International of Sequim. Her professional background includes tax coordination, healthcare administration, and immigration law.
Cripe is a retired controller who worked in accounting and systems management at Vanport Marine in Portland and earlier as a software engineer at Microsoft. In Port Angeles, she has served on the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Commission and with the Peninsula Tennis Club, and she is active in Strong Towns Port Angeles.
The council will interview the finalists during its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 2. By law, the appointment must be made no later than September 28.
