Port Angeles – Suspects are being sought after an ATM machine was stolen from a Port Angeles fuel station Thursday morning.

Deputy Police Chief Jason Viada called in this report.

“This morning (Thursday) at about 3:35, PenCom got a call of a report of a male trying to pull an ATM out of the convenience store at First and Albert with a white F250. Additional details indicated that the ATM was out of the store, and the truck and the ATM were headed up the alley. Officers arrived a couple minutes later and located the truck and the ATM that the suspect had abandoned near a business across the street. Those items were recovered. The officers confirmed that the truck had been stolen. The suspect fled on foot prior to arrival, and has not yet been apprehended.”

Viada said one of his officers on the scene reported that the store’s back door had been “ripped off the building”.

He said officers were working to get the truck returned to its rightful owner as the investigation continues.
