PORT ANGELES — Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 101 at Baker Street, in a construction zone where lanes had been rerouted and narrowed, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said a 2019 Hyundai Tucson driven by 64-year-old Scott Hooton of Kent was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line around 2:09 p.m. and struck a westbound 2013 Subaru Outback driven by 45-year-old Patricia Hinkle of Seattle. A second westbound vehicle, a 2014 Subaru Outback driven by 33-year-old Hannah Klabo of Kingston, then collided with Hinkle’s car,

Hooton, his passenger — 60-year-old Neva Fewkes of Kent — and Hinkle were all transported to Olympic Medical Center with injuries. All three were wearing seatbelts. Klabo was not injured.

Both the Hyundai and Hinkle’s Subaru were totaled and towed from the scene. Klabo’s vehicle sustained reportable damage but was driven away. Investigators said drugs and alcohol were not involved, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation
