Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic Expands Field Response as Patient Demand Surges

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic is seeing more patients in the field as demand for services grows.

Chief Operating Officer Helen Kenoyer told Clallam County commissioners Monday that the clinic logged nearly 14,000 encounters in 2024, with 71 percent in the field — up 47.5 percent from the year before.

“It’s really counting. We were partnering with the Port Angeles Police Department on our mental health field response grant. A couple of years ago, we transferred it to the county, and that’s been going great. It’s given us the freedom and ability to co-respond with law enforcement outside of just Port Angeles and expand into more of a countywide field response. We’ve seen that people who need outreach services for mental health or substance use aren’t just in city limits — we’re now able to work in Sequim and those in-between areas,” said Kenoyer.

The clinic has partnered with Port Angeles Police since 2017 and added the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office last year to expand its mental health field response program. Staff also work with agencies including the Port Angeles Fire Department, Forks Police, and state and federal partners.

The clinic is also serving older patients, reopened its long-closed dental clinic, and expanded west with a new Forks office and a transportation partnership with Jamestown Healing Clinic.
