New details on this week’s high-profile police action in east Port Angeles

Port Angeles – We have more details on Monday’s law enforcement activity near the corner of Columbia and Jones Streets in Port Angeles.

Deputy Police Chief Jason Viada called us Wednesday with this report.

“On Monday, September 15th at about 8:30 a.m., investigators served a search warrant in the 1200 block of East Columbia Street in Port Angeles relating to a continued missing person investigation. With the assistance of the Washington State Attorney General’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Cold Case unit and the Washington State Patrol crime lab, investigators continued to pursue leads and conduct interviews relating to the disappearance of Marley Zimmerman. If anyone has information relating to Zimmerman’s disappearance, please call the Port Angeles Police Department at 360-452-4545.”

As we reported in January, the family of 27-year-old Marley Zimmerman of Port Angeles said she has been missing since January 20.

According to her sister Zoe Zimmerman, Marley left her home around 2:00 a.m. that morning, as captured by the house’s security cameras. She was wearing all-black clothing and carrying a light green or tan backpack.

Marley’s phone had been turned off since her disappearance, which her sister said very unlike her.

Because it is an open investigation, police are not saying whether there has been a break in the case or if any new information was collected during this week’s search.

Viada said investigators were at the scene on Columbia Street all day Monday and until about 2:00pm on Tuesday.
