The Bainbridge Spartans’ powerhouse soccer team came to town last night and, as is often the case, left with a dominant 4-0 win.
Bainbridge has now beaten the Roughriders seven straight times by a combined score of 26-2. The Spartans showed why — their spacing and passing looked polished, almost like a college squad.
Port Angeles trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but Bainbridge put the match out of reach with three more goals in the second half. The Riders will try to regroup Thursday night at Olympic.
Sequim, meanwhile, rolled past North Mason 6-0. The Wolves jumped out early with four goals in the first 14 minutes. Sasha Yada scored just two minutes in off a Kiley Winter assist. Three minutes later, Kaiya Robinson added another on a feed from Olive Bridge. Raimey Brewer scored twice in quick succession to make it 4-0. Before halftime, Ruby Horgan finished on a Brewer assist, and in the second half, Lily Sparks buried a penalty kick to cap the scoring. Keeper Lillian Anderson recorded the shutout. The Wolves now get their shot at Bainbridge on Thursday.
