PORT ANGELES — In NWAC soccer, the Peninsula Pirate men battled to a 1-1 draw with the Whatcom Orcas. Jeremy Obah scored the lone goal for the Pirates, who outshot the Orcas 14-7.

The Pirate women had no trouble, rolling past Whatcom in a 7-0 shutout. Arianna Ma’afala, Isis Bryant, and Kasi Baker each scored twice, while Cailey Ridgeway added a goal. Peninsula dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Orcas 24-2.

It’s rivalry week in high school football as the unbeaten Sequim Wolves (3-0) travel Friday night to face 1-2 Port Angeles. The Wolves tuned up last week with a 49-30 win over Elma, a game more lopsided than the final score suggested. Sequim jumped out to a 21-0 lead and rotated in junior varsity players in the second half.

Sophomore quarterback Kaiden Miller was perfect through the air, completing all seven of his passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Senior running back Liam Wiker, battling a lower-leg injury, ran for 88 yards and two scores. Zeke Schmadeke added a 12-yard TD run, tight end Andrew Keeler caught a 30-yard scoring pass, and Malachi Hampton chipped in with a two-yard TD and a 60-yard punt return. Sophomore kicker Freddy Wilhelm, who hit a game-winner against Mariner earlier this season, was a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points.

Sequim head coach Ian Henley also appeared on the postgame show, with his Wolves now 3-0 and favored against Port Angeles this Friday night.

Port Angeles, meanwhile, struggled in a 48-14 loss at North Mason, where the Bulldogs built a 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Sequim won last year’s rivalry matchup 27-7 and has taken eight of the last 10 meetings.

In tennis today, Port Angeles visits Sequim with first serve at 4 p.m.
