PORT ANGELES — Drivers in Clallam County will see extra patrols on the roads this weekend as part of a statewide effort honoring fallen Washington State Patrol Trooper Christopher Gadd.
Trooper Gadd was killed in March of last year when an impaired driver slammed into his patrol car on I-5 near Marysville. Just before the crash, he had told colleagues he’d be joining them after making “one more stop.”
In his memory, law enforcement agencies across Washington — including here on the Olympic Peninsula — will take part in the “One More Stop” emphasis patrol starting Friday afternoon and running through early Monday morning. Officers will be focusing on impaired driving and speeding.
The Washington Traffic Safety Commission says the goal is both enforcement and remembrance, urging drivers to slow down and never get behind the wheel impaired.
