PORT ANGELES — A former Port Angeles Roughrider All-State cross country runner has been named the National NAIA Runner of the Week.
Jack Gladfelter, who runs for Corban College, earned the honor after finishing 6th out of 325 runners — including NCAA Division I and II athletes — at the Charles Bowles Invitational. Gladfelter clocked a time of 23:52.7 in the 8K, setting a new school record. He also finished first among all Cascade Conference runners and currently holds the third-fastest time nationally in the NAIA division.
Former Roughrider Max Baeder, running for Evergreen State College, finished 61st at the same event.
In boys’ tennis Tuesday, Port Angeles defeated Olympic 5–2.
In singles: Grant Butterworth lost 3–6, 3–6; Owen Leitz won 6–4, 6–3; and Teig Carlson rallied to win 4–6, 6–4, 10–4.
In doubles: Liam Miller and Jensen Wolfe fell 2–6, 5–7; Alik Ross and Abe Brenkman won 6–2, 6–1; Brett Mason and Gagan Seera won 7–5, 6–1; and Jacob Oberly with Khyler Fowler swept 6–0, 6–0.
The Roughriders travel to North Mason today, while Sequim hosts Olympic.
In girls’ soccer tonight, the Roughriders (7–2) are heavy home favorites against North Mason (2–6) with kickoff at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Sequim visits Kingston in a key league matchup. The Wolves are 4th in the Olympic League at 3–4, while Kingston sits 5th at 2–4. Kingston edged Sequim 2–1 in overtime earlier this season, so the Wolves need a win to keep the upper hand for the 4th playoff spot.

Sequim will look for leadership from senior Kiley Winter (4 goals, 5 assists), while Olive Bridge also has 5 assists, Ruby Moxley Horgan 4 goals, and Raimey Brewer 3 goals with 3 assists.
In volleyball tonight, Sequim travels to Kingston and Port Angeles hosts North Mason — both matches start at 6:30 p.m.
