CARLSBORG — Seven children who were the focus of an overnight search in Clallam County have been found safe.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said the children — ranging in age from 6 months to 9 years old — were located early Monday morning in Kitsap County. Around 5 a.m., deputies there found the suspect vehicle and took Nicholas Well and Rosario Lopez-Castro into custody. The children are now in protective care.

The search began late Sunday after a violent incident on Carlsborg Road. Deputies say the driver of a dark blue 1999 Lexus sedan was stabbed and thrown from the vehicle around 8:30 p.m. The victim was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Authorities said the Lexus had been reported stolen and initially identified Well and Lopez-Castro as persons of interest.
