SEQUIM — The Kraken’s coming to Sequim!

The Sequim Irrigation Festival has unveiled its logo and storyline for 2026 — and this year, it’s all about local legend meeting hometown pride.

Festival Director Michelle Rhodes says the story begins with a ship near the New Dungeness Lighthouse, where a friendly Kraken rises from the Strait of Juan de Fuca to welcome sailors to Sequim — declaring, “Let’s Go Sequimming!”

That’s also the festival’s new tagline, chosen by members last fall. The logo, designed by local artist Amber Tjemsland, features the lighthouse that inspired the story and will guide this year’s theme for the parade, float, and events.

Washington’s longest-running festival celebrates its 131st year from May 1st through 9th, 2026. And as the Kraken would say — if you want to go Sequimming, you better get Kraken!
