PORT ANGELES — Two of Clallam County’s cornerstone farmers markets are being recognized for their impact on local agriculture and community food access.
The North Olympic Land Trust has selected both the Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market and the Port Angeles Farmers Market as its 2025 Farmers of the Year, honoring their role in strengthening the local food system and supporting regional farms.
The Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market, now in its 30th year, is recognized for providing a community gathering space that connects residents directly with local growers and food producers. Director Layla Forêt said the market’s mission is to ensure residents know where their food comes from while helping local farms thrive.
The Port Angeles Farmers Market, celebrating 25 years, operates year-round and runs several food-access programs. One of those, the Protein Match program, expands purchasing power for food stamp users to buy fresh meats, eggs, dairy, and seafood. Market Board President Caleb Taft said the goal is to increase food access while supporting local producers.
Both markets will be honored at the North Olympic Land Trust’s 23rd Annual Harvest Celebration on November 1st at Field Arts & Events Hall in Port Angeles.
Since its founding in 1990, the Land Trust has conserved more than 3,900 acres across the North Olympic Peninsula for farms, forests, and fish habitat.
