PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughriders are sending six athletes to the State Cross Country Meet.

At the district meet, Leia Larson led the Roughrider girls with a 6th-place finish in 21:28.0, while Miriam Cobb came in 20th at 22:56.1.

From Sequim, heralded freshman Emily Bair is also headed to state, finishing 11th in 22:57.0.

For the Roughrider boys, Andre Campbell placed 11th at 17:53.1, followed by Easton Dempsey in 14th at 18:07.5, Jay Lieberman in 22nd at 18:26.6, and Henry Wendel in 23rd at 18:29.5.

Sequim’s Gavin Tupper was close behind, finishing 24th at 18:30.4 and Adrian Osborne at 18:23.3 earned trips to state.

The Port Angeles Roughrider cross country team will send six runners to the State Meet.

In district girls soccer, Port Angeles sophomore Lilly Anne Lancaster was asked if she ever played basketball, given her speed on the field.
With a laugh, she said, “Yeah, I did in middle school — but I was always fouling out, so I had to go to wrestling.”

For fans who’ve watched Lancaster play, that tracks. Quick, fearless, and aggressive, she’s not afraid of contact — and lately, she’s been finding more net than a Copper River fisherman.

Lancaster recorded a hat trick Saturday as the Roughriders overwhelmed Washington High School 9–0. She’s now scored seven goals in her last four games.

The Roughriders’ “Green M&M” combo also got in on the scoring — Mariah Traband tallied two goals and two assists, while Emma Desjardins, Lancaster’s younger cousin, added a goal and an assist.
Becca Manson scored once with an assist, and Stella Fradkin and Morgan Politika each found the back of the net.
Pyper Alton dished out three assists, while Teanna Clark and Julianna Long each had one.

Port Angeles now heads to Poulsbo to take on North Kitsap in a district quarterfinal Tuesday night at 6:00, in a game you’ll hear live on KONP Newsradio.

And if history’s any guide, Lancaster may net a few more goals in that old Norway fishing village to help the Riders reel in a trip to the semifinals.

Roughriders Addison Fox (#5), Stella Fradkin (#3), Morgan Politika (#11), and Becca Manson (#19) celebrate one of nine goals in Port Angeles’ 9–0 win over Washington.

Meanwhile, the Sequim Wolves, feeling disrespected after landing the No. 9 seed, made a statement against Franklin Pierce — striking twice in the first half and holding on for a 3–2 win, also heard on KONP.

Junior midfielder Lilly Sparks scored in the 5th and 48th minutes, while Raimey Brewer added an unassisted goal at 13:30 to give Sequim a 2–0 lead they never relinquished.
Sophomore Kaiya Robinson assisted on two of those goals, and Addie Eastburn added another assist.

Wolves junior Lilly Sparks, on KONP Newsradio, scored two goals to lead Sequim past Franklin Pierce, 3–2.

Sequim travels to Bainbridge Tuesday night for a quarterfinal matchup with the Spartans. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.

Wolves defender Olive Bridge, a junior, joined KONP’s Robert Grove on the postgame show after another strong performance against the Cardinals.
