PORT ANGELES — A 40-year-old Port Angeles man is in jail after deputies say he showed up armed at his estranged wife’s home in Sequim during a domestic dispute.
According to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Travis Nicolaysen went to the woman’s Schmith Road residence Saturday night, pushed her, and knocked a phone from her hand as she tried to call 911. Investigators say he then retrieved a gun from his vehicle and shouted from the driveway before leaving.
Sequim Police arrested Nicolaysen shortly after on Old Olympic Highway. A search of his vehicle reportedly turned up a firearm, ammunition, suspected drugs, additional weapons, and burglary tools hidden in his wallet.
A convicted felon, Nicolaysen is prohibited from owning firearms. He was booked into the Clallam County Jail on charges including domestic assault, unlawful firearm possession, drug possession, and interfering with a 911 call. His bail is set at $55,000.
The sheriff’s office says the initiating officer, Deputy Jeffery Erskine is currently in field training.
