PORT ANGELES — A third ballot count in Clallam County shows most Election Night trends holding steady — but one of the county’s closest races has now flipped.

In the Port Angeles City Council Position 1 contest, incumbent LaTrisha Suggs has now taken a narrow lead over James Taylor, with 50.07 percent to 49.79 percent — a difference of just 10 votes.

Other city council races remain largely unchanged. Drew Schwab continues to lead Tyler Slater decisively for Position 2, with 70 percent of the vote.. For Position 4, Kate Dexter has defeated Mimi Smith Dvorak, 61 to 38 percent.

Countywide measures also remain consistent. The Charter Amendment removing coroner duties from the prosecuting attorney continues to pass easily with 82 percent approval, while the proposed levy lid lift for essential public services remains on track to fail, with 59 percent opposed and 41 percent in favor.

At the Port of Port Angeles, incumbents Colleen McAleer and Steven Burke continue to dominate, holding 88 percent and 85 percent of the vote, respectively.

In Olympic Medical Center board races, Gerald B. Stephanz Jr. leads Ann Marie Henninger 57 to 43 percent, and Carleen Bensen is ahead of Tara Coffin 59 to 41 percent. The race between Penney Sanders and Laurie Force remains virtually tied at 50 to 49 percent.

Both Port Angeles School Board contests remain close. Ned Hammar leads Sarah Methner 52 to 47 percent, while Nancy Hamilton is ahead of Mary Hebert 54 to 45 percent.

According to the Clallam County Auditor’s Office, voter turnout stands at 31.3 percent, with 18,626 ballots counted and about 9,000 remaining. The next results update is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m., with final certification on November 25.
