The Sequim Wolves saw their season end with an 8–1 loss to North Kitsap last night in Poulsbo.
After an emotional 3–2 win over Franklin Pierce and a 4–0 loss to Bainbridge, it appeared the Wolves simply ran out of gas against the Vikings.
This young Wolves squad, featuring only three seniors — Raimey Brewer, Kylie Winter, and Hailey Wagner — finished the season 7–11 in what was once again a tough Olympic League. When the district tournament wraps up Saturday, it’s likely that three of the four teams advancing to state will come from the Olympic League. Some say that if the bracket had been set up without politics, all four could have been league teams.
Brewer capped her Wolves career with a team-leading 13 assists and 5 goals. Speedster Winter added 7 goals and 6 assists, while Wagner’s size and speed anchored the Wolves’ defense and will be missed next year.
Looking ahead, sophomore Ruby Moxley-Horgan, who led the Wolves with 11 goals, will return, along with junior Olive Bridge, who recorded 6 assists. Kaiya Robinson showed major improvement this year, scoring 4 goals, and could be primed for a breakout junior season. Lilly Sparks, the hero of the Franklin Pierce match, also returns after netting 4 goals this year. In goal, Lillian Anderson will be back as well, providing strong leadership and poise for a still-developing team.
In last night’s loss to North Kitsap, Brewer notched her final assist as a Wolf — a perfect corner kick finished by Ruby Moxley-Horgan for Sequim’s lone goal.
The Wolves are expected to be penciled in around fourth place in next year’s Olympic League preseason rankings.

Sequim’s “Dungeness Goal Rush” — senior Kiley Winter and sophomore Ruby Moxley-Horgan — combined for 18 goals this season, with Winter netting seven and Moxley-Horgan leading the team with 11.
Meanwhile, the Port Angeles Roughriders are scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m. today at Bainbridge against the Spartans — the time preferred by Bainbridge and the district. However, there are reports the Port Angeles School District is still trying to secure a bus driver for that early start, which could push the match to 7:00 p.m. Stay tuned this morning for confirmation. Either way, you can hear the broadcast live here on KONP Newsradio.

Port Angeles Roughriders Lilly Anne Lancaster, Mariah Traband, Stella Fradkin, and Emma Desjardins look to upset Bainbridge tonight in the District 3 semifinal.
And a note for local basketball fans — tickets are now available for the Fresno State vs. Washington Huskies women’s basketball game, featuring former Port Angeles Roughrider and Peninsula Pirate Millie Long.
The UW Athletic Department is offering a special $10 group rate for all Millie Long fans, with seating located right behind the Fresno State bench in the student section.
At halftime, 5th and 6th grade girls’ teams from Port Angeles and Sequim will take the floor. The Port Angeles team is coached by Kasey Ulin, and the Sequim squad by Caleb Messinger.
