PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Winter Ice Village is back for its eighth year, opening its gates today — Friday, November 21st — in downtown Port Angeles. Located at 121 West Front Street, the outdoor skating rink is welcoming skaters ages three and up every single day through January 5th, with hours running from noon to 9 p.m.
This festive community tradition is presented by the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce and runs entirely on the power of local volunteers.
Admission includes skates, a helmet, and access to helpful skate aids. Pricing varies by age — from 10 dollars for kids, to 20 dollars for adults — with discounts if you bring your own skates. Seniors and active military skate for just 10 bucks, and season passes are available for those who plan to visit often.
Special senior skating sessions are also scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 to noon — a quieter time just for skaters 50 and over.
And for those new to the ice, there’s a beginner class coming up on Saturday, December 6th. The 25-minute lesson includes skate rental and full-day rink access.
You can check rink conditions and crowd levels in real time by visiting Skatecam.org — the live camera runs 24/7 throughout the season.
Skaters should note: everyone must sign a waiver before hitting the ice. That can be done ahead of time at wintericevillage.org — where you’ll also find all the details on schedules, lessons, volunteer opportunities.
