LOCAL SPORTS: Area Standouts Shine Across College Courts

PORT ANGELES– Taking a look at former area high school and Peninsula College alums:

At Arizona Christian University in Glendale, former Peninsula Pirate Ese Onakpoma is putting together an All-American-caliber career. Last season, Onakpoma earned Third Team NAIA All-American honors and was named the Golden State Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Averaging 13 points per game, he helped lead the Firestorm to their fifth straight conference championship.
Now a senior, Onakpoma is off to a strong start, averaging 18 points per game. He is majoring in Business Management.

Former Peninsula Pirate Lexie Mackey is playing Division II basketball for Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, a member of the Great American Conference. Through the Storm’s first three games, Mackey is averaging 8 minutes per game, contributing 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Former Port Angeles Roughrider Parker Nickerson has begun his sophomore season at Skagit Valley College. He has appeared in all three of the Cardinals’ games, averaging 6 minutes, 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist.

Former Pirate Ciera Agasiva is having an outstanding junior season at Montana State–Northern in Havre, an NAIA program about two hours east of Glacier National Park. Agasiva has started all five games for the Skylights and is averaging 12 points per game, helping lead the team to a 3–2 record.
