The Peninsula Pirates, battling an injury-plagued season, have dropped to No. 8 in the NWAC basketball poll.

Also on Saturday, the Port Angeles Roughrider girls — coming off a stunning home-court loss to Class 2B Forks — travel to Neah Bay to take on the defending three-time state champion Red Devils. On tomorrow’s sports news, we’ll have a full scouting report, and we’ll bring you the live broadcast Saturday night with a 5:00 tipoff.

Meanwhile, the Peninsula Pirate men head to Edmonds for the three-day Triton Classic. The Pirates face Umpqua Friday at 5:00, South Puget Sound Saturday at 4:00, and Grays Harbor on Sunday at Noon.

And former Roughrider Eve Burke, now a senior at Linfield College, has helped lead the Wildcats to a 4–1 start. Burke has started all five games, averaging 25 minutes, 12 points, and 5 rebounds per game while shooting a blistering 53% from the field and 50% from three-point range.
