Clallam County – The body of a fisherman missing since October 30 appears to have been recovered from the Bogachiel River on Sunday, though the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that further forensic testing is required to confirm.

You may remember that on October 30, deputies responded to a report of a boat turned over off of State Route 10 in the Bogachiel River, southwest of Forks. The caller, a 33-year-old Port Orchard resident, had been on the boat when it flipped and was able to stabilize himself by holding onto a tree to call 911. The caller stated there were still two adults and one child in the rushing water.

That incident took the lives of 35-year-old Christian Akers from Sequim, his 7-year-old son Wyatt Akers, and 39-year-old Alfonso Graham from Port Orchard, though the body of Graham had never been located.

Then on Sunday, December 7 at about 4:45 pm, a fisherman called 911 to report there was a body stuck in the vegetation in the Bogachiel River near the Leyendecker Boat Ramp.

The body recovered is consistent with Alfonso Graham, and first responders found a fishing license and ID in the pockets of the deceased with Graham’s name on them. The Clallam County Coroner has notified next of kin that this is likely Alfonoso Graham, but needs to officially confirm.
