PORT ANGELES –The Port Angeles Roughrider bowling team was swept 7–0 by state power Klahowya. The Riders did post a season-best team game of 718. Zoey Van Gordon led the way with a match-high 376 series, rolling games of 197 and 179. Lucy Townsend added a 161, and Izzy Spencer delivered a season-best 171. Port Angeles travels to Olympic on Thursday.

There’s a big high-school basketball matchup tonight as the Port Angeles Roughrider girls hit the road to face defending Olympic League champion Bainbridge. Last season the Spartans beat the Riders twice in league play, 48–38 and 52–28, before Port Angeles flipped the script in the District Championship with a 44–36 win. Bainbridge struggled mightily that night, shooting just 18% from the field.

The Spartans return plenty of size with 6’2″ junior Amber Rowe and 5’10” junior Kaela Cole on the blocks. Co-captain Elsa Drugge anchors the backcourt, while 5’9″ senior co-captain Allie Paulson Houser and 5’9″ junior forward Ada Reitz round out the starting five. Bainbridge enters at 2–1, with wins over Central Kitsap and Olympic and a loss to 3A Issaquah.

Tonight’s game is live on KONP Newsradio, with the pregame show at 6:45 and tipoff at 7:00. Oly Archibald and Dustin Clark have the call. The Roughrider boys host Bainbridge at 7:00 as well.

Former Roughrider Millie Long posted a career-high 23 points for Fresno State in a 65–45 loss to Pepperdine, adding five rebounds and five steals. The Bulldogs play at Saint Mary’s tomorrow at 6:30.

Former Rider Gus Halberg earned his first start as a Peninsula Pirate, scoring nine points against Grays Harbor and averaging five per game. The Pirates now head to Lane College in Eugene for a three-game trip, starting with South Puget Sound Friday at 5:00.
