PORT TOWNSEND — A new national survey says Port Townsend looks ready-made for a Hallmark Christmas movie — and Washingtonians overwhelmingly agree.
Travel company Exoticca asked more than three-thousand people which real towns deserve their own Hallmark holiday setting. Leavenworth ranked first, Port Townsend second, and Winthrop third in Washington state.
Port Townsend’s appeal is easy to picture: Victorian storefronts wrapped in lights, harbor views glowing under winter skies, and holiday markets where you can practically imagine a meet-cute over cocoa. Evening strolls past historic buildings and boutique shops give the town a storybook feel without any movie magic.
Leavenworth topped the list for its Bavarian-style festivals, and Winthrop followed with its Old West charm, but Port Townsend stood out for its blend of Victorian architecture and seaside holidays.
Other national favorites included Blue Ridge, Georgia; Frankenmuth, Michigan; and Cape May, New Jersey.
