PORT ANGELES — A 24-mile patriotic procession will roll through the North Olympic Peninsula on Thursday, delivering more than 1,300 wreaths to honor veterans.

The Wreaths Across America Honor Escort, organized by the Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will stretch from 7 Cedars Casino to Mt. Angeles Memorial Park.

Led by state troopers, Clallam County deputies, and a Heartland Express semi carrying 1,365 wreaths, the procession begins at 11 a.m. Eight motorcycle groups will join, with an expected cemetery arrival around 11:30 a.m.

Organizers hope to see 250 American flags along Highway 101 as the U.S. nears its 250th birthday. Free flags are available at local sponsors:

  • Port Angeles Les Schwab
  • Koenig Subaru
  • Wilder Auto

Olympic Christian School students and community members are expected to line the route and overpasses. Drivers should expect brief delays near Monroe Road.

Wreaths will be placed this weekend during the national Wreaths Across America remembrance.
