PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles boys swim coach Sally Cole has another roster full of All-Staters.
The Roughriders dropped a close meet to state power Bainbridge, 103–80, but still turned in a standout day in the pool.
The 400 free relay team of Patrick Ross, Thomas Jones, Mike Van Denburg, and Adam Kaminski punched their ticket to state.
The 200 medley relay team of Jones, Edward Gillespie, Miles Van Denburg, and Kaminski took first place and shaved two full seconds off their state-qualifying time.
Other first-place finishes:
- Miles Van Denburg in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle
- Adam Kaminski in the 100 backstroke
- Jack Root in diving

The Port Angeles Roughriders have already qualified multiple athletes for the state swim meet.
The Roughriders travel to Olympic next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the hottest ticket in Sequim is the Wolves’ flag football team.
Head coach Terry Wopperer has the Wolves off to a 2–0 start after a 42–7 blowout of Port Angeles and a 15–14 overtime thriller against North Kitsap.
Former Wolves basketball standouts Kylie Winter and Raimey Brewer, along with soccer star Ruby Horgan-Moxley, have been terrorizing opposing defenses.
The Wolves face Klahowya tonight at 7:00.

Former Roughrider Millie Long had another big night for Fresno State, despite the Bulldogs falling 60–57 to Saint Mary’s.
Long led the Bulldogs with 19 points, 7 steals, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. She leads Fresno State in scoring at 13 points per game and tops the team in steals with 36.
The Bulldogs host Chicago State on Saturday at 5:00 in Fresno.
