AUBURN — In NWAC women’s basketball action, the Peninsula Pirates, now 7–2, dominated the Swamp Classic at Green River.
The Pirates knocked off Clark 67–46, Green River 76–54, and Wenatchee 74–40. Wenatchee entered the tournament at 8–1. Peninsula won those three games by an average score of 72–44.
Once again, 6-foot-2 sophomore Alecsis Smith controlled the floor. Against Clark, Smith poured in 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She followed that with 19 points and 11 boards against Green River, then added 20 points and nine rebounds in the win over Wenatchee.
Six-foot sophomore Aspen Fraser averaged nine points and eight rebounds per game. Makena Patrick chipped in six points and seven rebounds a night, while Kimberlee Brown averaged eight points and five rebounds.
Former Neah Bay Red Devil Ryana Moss had a game-high 19 points against Clark, knocking down five three-point shots.
The Pirates are off until December 29, when they play three games in three days at the LCC Classic in Longview, December 29 through the 31st. Peninsula will face Chemeketa, fourth-ranked Umpqua, and top-ranked Walla Walla. All three games will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio.

On the men’s side, the Peninsula Pirates dropped all three games at Lane College in Eugene, Oregon.
In a 70–60 loss to South Puget Sound, Patrick Odingo led the Pirates with 22 points. In a 79–63 loss to Blue Mountain, former Port Angeles Roughrider Gus Halberg had a strong outing, scoring 17 points in 35 minutes, including three three-point shots, along with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
The Pirate men will host Highline Thursday at 5:00.

In high school basketball, the Port Angeles girls defeated Olympic 47–15. Lindsay Smith led the Roughriders with 22 points, while Kenzie Moses added eight.

On the boys’ side, Port Angeles picked up wins over Olympic, 57–46, and Elma, 56–50.
