PORT ANGELES A nearly decade-old murder case in Port Angeles has been resolved following a guilty plea and sentencing in Clallam County Superior Court.

Tina Marie Alcorn has been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder with a deadly weapon enhancement in the 2016 killing of George David. Court records indicate Alcorn is suffering from a terminal illness and is not expected to live long enough to complete her prison sentence.

The plea agreement was reached with the consent of David’s family, who agreed to the resolution of the case rather than proceeding to trial.

George David was found dead in March of 2016 at a friend’s apartment in Port Angeles while traveling to visit family in British Columbia. At the time, Port Angeles Police investigated the case but did not have sufficient evidence to file charges. Alcorn was later arrested on an unrelated felony warrant and extradited to Arkansas.

The case was reopened last year with assistance from the Washington Attorney General’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People Cold Case Unit. Investigators conducted additional follow-up work, including new DNA analysis, which helped establish probable cause. Alcorn was arrested in Arkansas and returned to Clallam County to face charges.

The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.

George David was an Indigenous woodcarver, artist, father, and grandfather. Family members addressed the court at sentencing, speaking about the loss of his voice, his artwork, and the stories he was never able to finish telling.
