PORT ANGELES — The WIAA Scholastic Cup rankings are out for the fall sports season. The rankings are based on a point system that considers how many state tournaments each school qualifies for and how they finish. Additional points are awarded for academic team performance.

Congratulations to the Port Angeles Roughriders, who finished second in the Olympic League and 17th statewide. The Riders edged out third-place North Kitsap, which finished 18th in the state. Bainbridge claimed the Olympic League title and finished third overall in the state.

The Port Angeles swim and soccer teams advanced to the state level this fall, helping the Roughriders earn valuable points in the WIAA Scholastic Cup rankings. Port Angeles finished second in the Olympic League and 17th statewide.

Sequim finished last in the Olympic League and tied for last statewide, sharing the 47th spot with North Mason.

Looking ahead to today’s schedule:
Bowling action gets underway this afternoon as Port Angeles travels to North Mason for a 2:00 start.
The Port Angeles and Sequim swim teams will compete in a tri-meet with Klahowya at Olympic High School beginning at 3:30.
Roughrider wrestling is at home tonight, hosting North Kitsap with a 6:00 first whistle.

KONP Newsradio has added the Onalaska at Port Angeles girls basketball game to its broadcast schedule. The Loggers come to town Monday with a 5:00 tipoff.

Onalaska is a strong program out of the tough SW 2B District and features one of the state’s top athletes in 5-foot-8 junior Emalie Jacoby. Jacoby, an all-state volleyball player, also excels on the basketball court and scored 40 points in just three quarters against North Beach last season.
