PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center Commissioner John Nutter has died following a sudden illness.
Nutter passed away Monday, according to a statement sent to OMC employees. He had served on the Olympic Medical Center board since 2009. He also was a former Deputy Director at the Port of Port Angeles and a former Port Angeles Police officer.
The statement said: “Nutter’s financial background brought a unique perspective to the board” and “having grown up in Port Angeles, John had deep roots in the community, fostering a genuine connection and a strong sense of responsibility toward its well-being. He will be sorely missed.”
Nutter’s wife, Christy, wrote in a later social media post that he died from pancreatic cancer and additional complications. The acute symptoms showed 11 days before he passed away.
Nutter was 54. A celebration of life is set for February 8th at Cedars at Dungeness.
There is no word yet on next steps to fill his seat on the OMC board.
