PORT ANGELES — In high school basketball action last night, as expected, the 5–5 Port Angeles girls had no trouble with 3–4 Sequim, blowing out the Wolves 44–22.

NWAC schools, including Lower Columbia College, are already watching 5-foot-9 junior Morgan Politika for softball. After last night’s performance against the Wolves, they may want to start recruiting her for basketball as well.

Politika led the way with 16 points. Half of those came in the fourth quarter, including two three-point shots. Port Angeles outscored Sequim 19–8 in the final quarter. The Wolves managed just 14 points through the first three quarters.

Teanna Clark added 10 points, Lindsay Smith scored nine, Sariah Doherty finished with six, and Becca Manson added three.

The Roughriders travel to Bainbridge tonight for a big matchup, with tip-off set for 7:00.

In bowling action, Bremerton defeated Port Angeles 5–2. Zoey Van Gordon rolled a team-high 188 in game two, while Ivy Powless bowled a season-high 156. The Roughriders did rally to win both Baker games. Van Gordon was also named the WIAA Athlete of the Week for Week 16.

Swimming action today has Sequim traveling to Bremerton, while Port Angeles hosts Olympic. Both meets begin at 3:00.

And we have an NWAC doubleheader broadcast tonight on KONP Newsradio. Peninsula travels to Shoreline to open Northern Conference play, with the men tipping off at 5:00 and the women at 7:00. Our pregame show begins at 4:45.
