PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has promoted two longtime sergeants to lieutenant positions as part of an effort to strengthen agency leadership.
Sheriff Brian King announced that Patrol Sergeant Brian Knutson and Corrections Sergeant Alicia Newhouse were officially promoted during a ceremony Tuesday.
Knutson has served with the sheriff’s office for 21 years, while Newhouse brings 19 years of experience. Both new lieutenants have received multiple commendations during their careers, including Employee of the Year honors.
Sheriff King says the promotions help add supervisory oversight within both operations and corrections, while also improving accountability and succession planning within the department.
The new lieutenant positions reduce the span of control for command staff and create an additional leadership step between sergeant and chief-level roles.
